  8.      The Wordsearch Generator makes Word Search Puzzles (of
  9.      course!) and allows for some degree of flexibility in the
  10.      output. Wordsearch puzzles are often used for vocabulary
  11.      reinforcement or a puzzle for children.

  13.      Hardware       Apple ][ with 64K, "enhanced" models, 80
  14.                     column card,a printer
  15.      Optional       Mouse, clock.

  17.      Setup          The following files are needed in the same
  18.                     directory for startup:
  19.                     SEARCH.START  SEARCH.QUIT   SEARCH
  20.                     SEARCH.LIB1   SEARCH.LIB2   SEARCH.LIB2

  22.      If you use are using a dedicated disk for Wordsearch make
  23.      sure that PRODOS and BASIC.SYSTEM are on the disk. Rename
  24.      SEARCH.START to STARTUP.
  25.  
  26.      You must always select the SEARCH.START program when
  27.      launching from a program selector such as the GS Finder
  28.      program.

  171.      The words entered in the word list should only be letters,
  172.      hyphen, or a space. For example, "Word Search" will become
  173.      "WORDSEARCH". You may use mixed case letters, spaces, and
  174.      hyphens only.

  176.      NOTE      You may use a word processor to enter words. The
  177.                first line should have  the number of words. Type
  178.                in  one  word per line.  "Print" this  to  disk
  179.                with the name "LIST.yourname".

  181.      The maximum number of words allowed is 50 unless changed in
  182.      the SIZE RESET option.

  224.      The word entry lines are set for an "Insert mode". Pressing
  225.      OpenApple "E" will change to the overstrike mode.  If you
  226.      are editing a list the word to edit will appear instead of a
  227.      blank line.

  229.      You may use the keyboard, mouse, or arrow keys for many
  230.      selections. During item selection from lists:
  231.                      Open Apple + "1" = List top
  232.                     Open Apple + "9" = List bottom

  234.      Files  are  assumed  to be on the PATHNAME you start the
  235.      program with. Fifty LISTS are allowed per PATHNAME.  Use
  236.      "Set Prefix" under the DISK menu to change this.

  238.      NOTE           FileDump Prints the puzzle to a diskfile
  239.                     under two names: KEY.filename and
  240.                     PUZ.filename. See Main menu, options.
  241.  
  242.      SIZE reset can be tricky.   This redefines  the absolute
  243.      limits of the puzzle size.  If you force the  MEMORY to  low
  244.      the program will reject it or Clear EVERYTHING and start
  245.      again.You can do things like set for a list of  100 words,
  246.      10 character wide  and 150  lines long.  Or limit everything
  247.      to 10 words, 10 characters wide and 10 lines long.

  249.      Character size selection will adjust the print WIDTH of each
  250.      character within the limits of a standard 8  1/2" printer
  251.      and your printer.  For example the STAR printer will print
  252.      double high,  double  long  characters at 5 CPI which is
  253.      good  for younger  children.  If  you want to make them
  254.      blind then select 17 CPI and a large puzzle.
